IV sedation

Intravenous (IV) sedation refers to the administration of an anti-anxiety medications through the blood during the dental treatment. Rather than putting you to sleep, the sedative helps you to relax and feel peaceful during the procedure.
Once the IV is inserted and the sedative drugs are delivered, you will have some memories of the procedure, but not a bad ones and you will not feel any pain. Though IV sedative drugs are delivered, it is still necessary to use local anesthesia. We also use analgesic, and anti-inflammatory drugs during the IV sedation to help you during the postoperative.
In Implant Dentistry Costa Rica, our IV sedations are performed by a highly train Board Certified (Costa Rican College of Physicians) Anesthesiologist.
